The Liturgy of Good Friday
The church remains stripped bare of any ornament or hangings. We gather to hear the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, according to John which tells the story of Jesus’ arrest, of the crucifixion and of his burial in a tomb. We then have the opportunity to venerate (worship) the cross which is brought into church and unveiled for us. We then receive the consecrated bread, kept overnight from the mass of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday evening. After one final hymn we leave the church in silence recalling the death of the Lord.
